Free-Roaming Cat Program
You must be 18 or older to volunteer for trapping or transport of free-roaming cats. Some of these cats are friendly, but most are not used to people and will bite or scratch if handled. You must follow the guidelines listed below.
Safety Guidelines:
- Never attempt to touch a conscious feral/stray cat
- Do not stick fingers into traps or carriers containing cats. Both cats and kittens may bite.
- Wear heavy gloves when lifting trap or carrier. Cats can sometimes reach through and scratch.
- If you are bitten or scratched by a cat (or any animal caught in the trap), you should seek medical treatment within 24 hours, and you must notify the Pallet Cat Foundation at 502-349-3325. The cat may need to be quarantined for 10 days before release.
- Do not trespass on private property, commercial or residential. All trapping done through this program must be coordinated with the Program Coordinator who will seek to have owner’s written permission in advance.
